On May 26th, 2026 in the afternoon, a plane, carrying students from classes 6B and 6C, landed in Manchester. The weather – sunny and really hot. All of us reacted with varying degrees of excitement to the heat and everything lying ahead of us. But our destination Liverpool was yet to be reached, so by bus and shuttle, each one of us arrived tired but safely at their host families’ homes.

Our lessons in the morning were held (conveniently placed) in the city of Liverpool by our three lovely language teachers. Together via talking activities, we learned about Liverpudlian of course, but also about advanced levels of English, linguistic tools and British lifestyle.

Throughout our stay, there was never a moment where we didn’t learn about the city, the language and the people. At the beginning, all of us were sceptical and some of us overwhelmed. However, after the selfie-challenge, a guided tour through Liverpool, all of us did manage to navigate. Moreover, we were constantly supported by our group leader, Prof. Herowitsch-Putz, as well as Prof. Huber and Prof. Schattovits.

The extremely vast variety of activities we did, the visit to the Anfield Stadium, the day trip to York, the numerous museums and sights we visited, the beach we saw and especially the bowling evening built both our bonds as a group but also to the city itself.

There is one major aspect yet to be mentioned, so important that it cannot be left out when talking about Liverpool – The Beatles, who practically made Liverpool famous. No matter where we went, we could always kind of feel their presence. Let it be because of street singers singing “Here comes the sun”, the various statues of each member all around Liverpool, pictures, drawings, the shops dedicated to the famous band and naturally the Beatles‘ museum called “The Beatles Story”, where we spent our last day in Liverpool. A nice way to say goodbye I’d say.

Since, as we all know, we should quit while we’re ahead, after a week of very new experiences, we unfortunately had to return home on June 2nd, 2026.

And I think I speak for all of us when I say that this was a journey filled with memories of unique, exciting, interesting, sometimes overwhelming and tiring experiences that we will for sure never forget.
